From 1957 :: Updated Album “Cinderella” HQ Stills

I’ve been able to get a hold of some more HQ stills from Jon’s live television broadcast of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA. Jon played the part of Prince Christopher to Julie Andrews’ titular character. There are three that are in colour so we get to see Jon’s handsomeness as well as the colour of one of his costumes.

From 1987 :: Press Scans “Masters of the Universe” Starlog Issue #122

A rare find. I was able to get a hold of these scans from an issue of Starlog Issue #122. The article goes inside the making of the film with some focus in on the process it took to get the film to screen. Jon is mentioned and there are some images included.

From 2015 :: Happy Birthday 2015 Jon

I’d like to wish Jon the happiest of days on this his 83rd birthday. I know he’s been feeling a bit under the weather so I’m hoping he makes a speedy recovery in time to spend a great day with those he loves, a good bottle of wine, and a ginormous cake. The creation features Jon from the Erasmus High School Yearbook 1949 when Jon was a ripe youngin’ of 17. Wasn’t he a hottie? He had dreamer’s eyes and here’s hoping he fulfilled all of his dreams and they keep coming true for him. Thank you Jon for your gracious spirit.

From 1991 :: “Major Dad” Bloopers

I found this on Youtube and thought you’d love to see it. There is a video with a few of Jon’s MAJOR DAD bloopers. Jon played the part of Brigadier General Marcus C. Craig on the show for its final three seasons. I’ve been rewatching this show and found Jon’s humour so funny. How he delivered the lines so perfectly despite Matt Mulhern (Lt. Eugene Halowachuck) and Beverly Archer’s (Gunnery Sgt Alva Bricker) comedic timing…. I’d say these three were the stand outs for me during the show’s final seasons. I did watch it in the show’s first season but didn’t think it found its feet until the second and the additions of Archer and Jon. I have to say I adored Shanna Reed (Polly Cooper McGillis), Marisa Ryan (Elizabeth Cooper McGillis), Nicole Dubuc (Robin Cooper McGillis) and simply and totally loved Chelsea Hertford (Casey Cooper McGillis). I had begun watching the show due to having seen Gerald McRaney (Major John McGillis) on the show Simon and Simon. While I did like season one, having Jon added just made my watching of this show that much more perfect.

From 1957 :: “Cinderella” Television Broadcast

Finally, I have Jon’s work from the 1957 live television broadcast of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s CINDERELLA. I’ve been after some high quality stills for you and I finally got them. I have to apologize for the lesser quality of the screencaps and some of the production material, however, I was limited to the quality of the DVD. Unfortunately this hasn’t been remastered for a Bluray release and I’ve found nothing denoting there will be one. Sad really considering the milestone this original broadcast has in television history. This aired live on CBS on March 31, 1957 to massive ratings, massive for that time. According to Jon who of course plays our Prince, after the airing he walked out onto Times Square in New York to empty streets. May I say, Jon never looked more dashing. The line he cuts in his dancing, costume and his fine honey-dripped voice leaves much to a girl’s heart to desire in a Prince to wish for. The way he takes Julie Andrews into his arms and eyes makes us all swoon for the day our prince does come. Until that time, Jon can be that placeholder. I know for me he’ll always have a place in my heart. I”ve also included the soundtrack for your listening pleasure. Click on the iPod and open in your preferred listening application. The soundtrack is available on iTUNES. CINDERELLA also stars Howard Lindsey, Dorothy Stickney, Alice Ghostley, Ilka Chase, Edie Adams, and Kaye Ballard.

From 2015 :: “He-Man” Reboot News

There is a finished script for the new version of the MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE reboot. Apparently the new film might follow in line with the cartoon series of the same name and not Jon’s 1987 film. AMC Theatre News has this on the new film. For me, there will by only one Duncan Man-At-Arms, and that is Jon. I know, “Reboots are done all the time,” but I still think the one with Jon is the best. Jon starred with Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella, Meg Foster, Chelsea Field, Robert Duncan McNeill and our Jon Cypher.
